Sneak peak into a closet half open
More to the shambles than meets the eye?
Few secrets revealed, others hidden
What skeleton remains inside?
The quaint old closet, rarely used
Dump for all thats unused
Old clothes, big and small
Accessories, tiny and huge
Some bought out of aspiration,
Others out of exasperation!
Ugly reminders of impulsive decisions
Best left unseen, untouched and unworn
Some pretty and cute, now outgrown
Needed no more, or long forgotten
Here lie the memoirs of accomplishment,
Boasting of past glories, commendable
Or of past deeds, unspeakable
Every item carrying a story
A story of undying love, or trust
Or of embarrassment or detest.
Here lie the innumerable knick- knacks
Once wearing coats of shining polish,
Adorning the ancient racks
And now wearing layers of dull rust
Resting in peace which was once
The coveted place, now gathering dust.
Suddenly, its time for the cleaning
Of the closet, or the cleansing of memories?
Some are best erased forever
For them it’s a good-bye
But many are here to stay
Today is the judgement day
Which ones are woven into our lives?
Once again happily stashed away!!
